Kestrel UAS Services supports a range of projects across restoration, infrastructure, and surveying applications throughout the Pacific Northwest. The work is focused on delivering high-quality geospatial data that helps clients better understand site conditions, monitor change over time, and support planning, design, and long-term management.
Kestrel conducted pre-restoration mapping of a large-scale (100+ acre) riparian area using LiDAR and photogrammetry to support project planning and design.
Deliverables included a bare earth digital elevation model and high-resolution orthophotomosaic, providing a detailed baseline of site conditions prior to restoration implementation.
Jason developed and implemented a UAS monitoring program for Douglas County Public Utility District, initially supporting restoration and river system work and expanding to include dam safety, distribution engineering, and infrastructure support.
The project included repeat data collection and change detection analysis using point cloud comparisons to monitor conditions along a dam embankment over time, providing critical insight for maintenance and risk management.
Kestrel developed a UAS program for Erlandsen and Associates, a land surveying firm, integrating photogrammetry and LiDAR into their existing workflows.
This work included establishing data collection and processing standards, as well as training staff in the use of unmanned aerial systems for survey-grade mapping, expanding the firm’s capabilities in geospatial data acquisition.
